Shock. Disillusionment and uncertainty. Those were the feelings that overtook us when we arrived in Naples and went for a walk around the city. We even made it to the famous Quartieri Spagnoli – the Spanish Quarter, where there are narrow alleys, tall buildings, laundry hanging between them, and locals zipping around on scooters. After a while, we got used to the local color: we adapted to the peeling and graffiti-covered walls and learned to jump out of the way of passing cars and motorcycles. Even the dark-skinned inhabitants no longer seemed so intimidating… The most fitting word I could find for this place would be “authentic”… Really VERY authentic… 🙂
