In front of the supermarket
On March 25, 2009, at 11:30, I received this email in response to my request for consultation of photographs for the subject of Reportage Photography in the 1st year of the Institute of Creative Photography (ITF):
I believe that dividing the photographs is unnecessary, and developing some part would be descriptive. We looked at the photographs with colleagues from Famu1 and selected numbers 1, 3, 13, 152. Everyone liked it a lot, and from my side, I rate it with a grade 1.
The pictures have an idea and a concept; for number 3, it would be appropriate to clean the right side of the image from the pole and the bottom left from the traffic sign3. If you continue to work on it, you can also consider using it for the klauzura4.
It’s nice.
Best regards,
Antonín Braný
This message brought me so much joy that I still remember it to this day, even though it’s been 15 years.
Then Tonda Braný really gave me that “1” in the index on the regular April meeting in Horní Bečva. It was my first grade at ITF.
It saddened me even more when he didn’t make it to the last, June meeting in Bečva. He became seriously ill and didn’t make it to Bečva until his death a year later…
I believe he would be glad that I eventually processed and published this series of photographs.
