My mom and I went to Turkey in July 2005 on a vacation with a travel agency. What stands out the most in my memory is the constant attention from all the men around us as we walked by. It was probably a form of flattery, but we didn’t take it too well. It made us quite nervous, so we didn’t fully enjoy our excursions in the area. The constant haggling over prices, which was also prevalent, didn’t help either; we didn’t feel comfortable with it. I guess it’s true what they say, ‘different country, different customs.’
