On the Other Side of the Dream

When I first saw Karolina Kubikowska’s book “On the Other Side of the Dream”, I was amazed. The illustrations were different from the classic coloring book style. Karolina, a professional tatooist, decided to publish her black and white illustrations in a coloring book. It was such a success that she later released several more coloring books.

The pictures are dreamy; they have atmosphere and a story. Shadows are already suggested, making coloring them a truly relaxing experience for me – I didn’t have to think about where to place shadows; I just let myself be guided by the template. Later, inspired by them, I bought colored crayons to create color transitions in the background. Each picture was completed in one evening, which was just perfect for me.
